You are allowed to interview the people who will be treating you. A good clinic welcomes it. Print this list, screenshot it, or read it off your phone — the answers will tell you more than any website ever could.
About the assessment
- —Who reviews my medical history, and what specifically are they screening for?
- —Which of my current medications could interact with treatment?
- —Under what circumstances would you tell me I'm not a candidate?
About the session itself
- —Who is physically present during my session, and what are their credentials?
- —How am I monitored, and what happens if I feel unwell?
- —How long should I plan to be there, start to finish?
- —What do I need to arrange beforehand — food, driving, time off?
About what comes after
- —What does follow-up look like, and is it included?
- —How will we decide together whether this is helping?
- —Who do I contact between visits with a question?
About money
- —What is the total cost, including any assessment and follow-up?
- —Are there discounts — for example, for veterans and active-duty service members?
